Long Island Hurricane Irene
Many of the people on Long Island felt the wrath of an unwelcome visitor late Saturday night into Sunday evening. Her name was Irene and she left Long Island in shambles. Some lucky people never lost power but many people will most likely be without power for the rest of the week. Many of the roads on Long Island were blocked with downed trees and damaged electrical power lines. This destruction will take weeks to clean up and so many homes were severely damages requiring major repairs.
People on the south shore of Long Island were evacuated because of the chance of coastal flooding. People that braved Irene and stayed in there homes south of Montauk highway unfortunately had to deal with tremendous waves that slammed and ripped apart bulk heading. This water eventually made it way onto the streets and properties of these residents. So many of these people still cant even get home and will likely be greeted with extreme property damage.
It was nice to see all of the people that came together to help one another.
